Treasure Lake security officers were able to see the results of their actions Saturday when an owl they saved a month ago was able to be released.

The owl was released around the entrance to Treasure Lake in Clearfield County around 5 p.m. after coming back from Tamarack Wildlife Center near Erie, Treasure Lake security officer David Beck said.

According to Beck, he was on duty about a month ago and found the owl down over a bank, which had been struck by a car.

Beck and another officer boxed up the owl and Beck then transported it two and a half hours away.

“I jumped in my car, picked up my wife on the way past my house, and off to Erie we went,” Beck said.

According to Beck, the owl was looked over by Tamarack Wildlife Center, which said the owl was in shock and had a concussion.

The owl stayed at the rehab center until it was healed.

The owl flew off into the Treasure Lake area -- with a little coaxing -- once the box was opened.

“It was a good feeling to be able to help an injured owl and see her fly back to the wild,” Beck said.
