A preview event for a new art exhibit was held Wednesday in Centre County.

While the Palmer Museum of Art, at Penn State University, doesn’t open until Saturday, members of the media were able to get a tour of the new building.

The new museum serves Penn State's land-grant mission of teaching, research and public service for the university, its students and audiences from Pennsylvania.

There are two opening celebrations scheduled for the museum.

The first one will be held on Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., where you can go on a guided tour.

"The new Palmer Museum of Art will showcase Penn State's commitment to innovative outreach and education by presenting the university's art collection in spaces, intentionally designed to foster robust academic collaboration, strengthen student engagement and interdisciplinary programs,” says museum director Erin Coe.

The second opening celebration will be held on Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.

A gallery activity sheet, refreshments and more will be provided at both celebrations.
