With all signs pointing to her death in the Season 2 finale, fans are desperate for information on whether Wayne Pascal is leaving Alert: Missing Person Unit and what could happen to Alisha-Marie Ahamed’s character.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit sparked speculation that Pascal, played by Alisha-Marie Ahamed, was leaving the series in the preview for the Season 2 finale, “Federal Prisoner,” in which she’s kidnapped by Inspector Hollis Braun, the MPU team’s new boss, for her information in connection to the car bombing murders earlier in the season. The preview sees Wayne — who went missing on the day of Captain Nikki Batista and Detective Sergeant Mike Sherman’s wedding — realize she’s been kidnapped after her blindfold is removed and she sees that she’s tied up in a chair.

“Wayne Pascal is gone,” Detective Jason Grant is told in the preview.  “It is Braun. We’ve got to dig in now,” Grant tells the team later in the preview. The preview continues with Braun telling the MPU unit, “You’re suspended, all of you.” Grant then threatens Braun by telling him, “I’m coming for you,” to which Braun responds, “Keep walking.” The preview continues with the team saying that “Braun outplayed” them and that they were “running out of time” before it ends with a clip of Pascal getting into an accident during a high-speed car chase that leaves her bloody and unconscious.

Is Wayne Pascal leaving Alert: Missing Persons Unit?

Alisha-Marie Ahamed — who plays Pascal — hasn’t confirmed whether she’s leaving the series, however, Deadline reported in January 2024 that she had been cast a series regular, while Gil Bellows, who plays Braun, was only a recurring cast member.

Given her series regular status, it’s unlikely that Alert: Missing Persons Unit would write off Pascal after just one season, though not impossible. Prior to the Alert: Missing Persons Unit Season 2 finale, Ahamed shared several posts on her Instagram Story encouraging fans to watch the episode, seemingly suggesting that she wasn’t done with the series yet.

Ahamed joined as Pascal, a master hacker and an old friend of Grant’s whom he worked with in Afghanistan, in Season 2 of Alert: Missing Persons Unit. After she was cast in Alert: Missing Persons Unit, Ahamed shared an Instagram post in which she thanked the cast and crew for welcoming her to the FOX drama series. “here. we. go. 🙈 I can’t quite put into words how it’s felt to step into this next chapter. I simply know I am truly thankful to be a part of the @alert_fox family alongside a wildly talented and kind cast & crew!” she wrote. “Scott, @daniajramirez, @ryan_j_broussard, @adeolarole, @petey_gibson, thank you for welcoming me in with such warmth and generosity. I’m honoured and genuinely so excited to get to work alongside you all 🥹✨ @seanjburrows & @aburditt thank you for every ounce of what you do to make these dreams a reality!”

She continued, “There’s no one else I’d rather have in my corner 🫶 And of course, a massive massive thank you to my family and friends. Your love and support is immeasurable and I wouldn’t be where I am without you ♥️”

Alert: Missing Persons Unit was renewed by FOX for a third season in May 2024, a week before its Season 2 finale. According to Deadline, filming for Season 3 will start immediately after Season 3 in case production is haled by another Hollywood strike this summer, like Season 2 was by the Writer’s Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit is FOX’s police procedural drama following the personal and professional lives of detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit. The series is led by Detective Jason Grant and Captain Nikki Batista, two members of the MPU who are also searching for the truth about their missing son.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit is available to stream on Hulu.
