New Castle, PA (WPXI) — Authorities say at least one person was injured during a home explosion in Pennsylvania Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, around 10:30 a.m., a contractor was working to demolish the home along Pollock Avenue, in New Castle, when something was either hit from underneath or inside of the garage, causing a massive explosion.
Investigators say over thirty homes were damaged as a result of the explosion, mostly of broken windows and cracked foundations.
Officials say the man operating the demolition equipment was injured in the chest and there is no word yet on his condition.
Police were able to rule out a gas line break, however, a cause has yet to be determined.
New Castle police and firefighters are working with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the FBI and the Allegheny County bomb squad to determine the cause of the blast.

Authorities say at least one person was injured in an explosion in New Castle on Tuesday.
Officials say the explosion, which occurred just north of Pittsburgh, along the Pennsylvania-Ohio state line, was reported around 10:30 a.m.
Initial reports indicate someone was digging and hit a gas line, and debris was seen splintered across the lot.
According to the dispatcher, a structure exploded but it was not a house, and the injury was described as minor.
