The Johnstown area commemorated a park this weekend in honor of a paramedic who died while on duty.

Janice Keen-Livingston was killed in 2015 while helping those involved in an accident on an icy morning on Menoher Boulevard in Upper Yoder Township.

Plans for the park have been in the works since October 2015 for the Janice Keen-Livingston Memorial Park at the corner of Chandler Avenue and Garfield Street in the West End section of Johnstown, but have only now come to fruition.

The park is not only dedicated to her, but to all first responders and their families.

“It’s overwhelming, it’s emotional, it’s something that ever since we’ve talked about it, I’ve been waiting to see it happen, you bet I’ll be down here every day to see what’s going on,” said Debra Keen, Janice’s mother. “this is going to be something that all first responders’ families can enjoy too on the wall we’re going to have - you can purchase a plaque that would have somebody’s name on it who was a first responder.”

In order to make a donation for the continued building of the park, you can donate through the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies.
