Bill Wyatt, James Madison's associate director of communications, told the JMU student newspaper, the Breeze, that “the university has limited information about the matter" and that the Harrisonburg Police Department is handling the investigation.

Curlen, a sophomore who played varsity volleyball at Rye, was found dead between midnight and 8 a.m., according to News 12 Westchester. The medical examiner has not released the cause of death, the report said.

Curlen is the third Rye High School Class of 2013 graduate to die in college.
