Crayola announced on Thursday that the color Dandelion will be retired.

It's the first time in their over 100 year history that the company has retired a crayon from the 24-count box.

The shade of yellow was added to the Box of 64 in 1990.

Which color will replace Dandelion is set to be released on Friday morning.

Previously Crayola retired Prussian Blue, Maize and Raw Umber from their collections.

Visitors to the Crayola Experience will be able to celebrate the retirement of Dandelion with special events this weekend.

The company will be giving away free crayons to the first 100 children starting today through Sunday. Visitors in the month of April can also:

  • Name and wrap your own Dandelion crayon at Wrap It Up!
  • See your coloring page come to 4-D life with Dandelion at Color Magic
  • Color an exclusive Dandelion coloring sheet at Colossal Caddy
  • Draw Dandelion a goodbye note at Doodle in the Dark
  • Take home a limited-edition 2lb Dandelion crayon in The Crayola Store (while supplies last)

In addition to events at the Crayola Experience, the Dandelion crayon character will be going on a retirement tour across the country. You can track the tour on an interactive map.

Dandelion might even visit you! You can influence where he stops on his tour by tagging #celebratedandlion along with a geotagged location on Instagram.
